Senior B Timbermen add toughness with new logo
Nanaimo News Bulletin • Jan-08-2008

The Nanaimo DBL Disposal Timbermen mean business this season, if their new logo is any indication.

The city’s senior B West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association club unveiled its new logo last week.

The updated lumberjack retains his red tuque but sports an angrier facial expression and wields his lacrosse stick more aggressively. His beard, formerly black, is now brown. The leaves have turned from green to beige and the lumberjack’s blue jeans are no longer visible, so the colours on the new logo are red, white, black, brown and beige.

“He’s still traditional, to honour the past history of Nanaimo lacrosse,” said Pat O’Dwyer, president of the senior B club. “But it’s the new, gritty, intense look that we want for 2008.”

The new logo was created by local graphic artist Ron Dash of Farm Fresh Design Studio.

O’Dwyer said the feedback he’s heard has been almost unanimously positive.

“Ninety-nine per cent of the people I’ve talked to are just ecstatic and say it’s so amazing,” he said.

The club has begun looking into creating merchandise to feature the new logo.
