DBL Timbermen devastated as opponent can’t make date
Nanaimo News Bulletin • May 8, 2008
The Nanaimo DBL Timbermen senior B lacrosse team’s momentum has been stalled.
The Tri-City Bandits were supposed to visit the Nanaimo Ice Centre Saturday (May 10) for a 7:30 p.m. game, but the game has been called off.
The Bandits had previously indicated to the T-men that they couldn’t make the date and would try to swap dates with another West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association club, but that didn’t come to fruition.
In a press release, Nanaimo GM Pat O’Dwyer called the development devastating to his club, both from a financial and marketing standpoint.
The league has ruled that the game will be postponed to a later date, not forfeited, since the Bandits gave the T-men ample notice of the situation.
“This cancellation is financially devastating to our team and its program,” O’Dwyer said. “We will try to regroup but the future is uncertain at this point.”
